Altaira Services Director, raises funds for Leukaemia Foundation’s “Light the Night”
Director of Altaira Services, Gaynor Giro, will be participating in this year’s Leukaemia Foundation “Light the Night”.
Like many fundraising events, Gaynor is hoping to reach her target of $1000 to raise funds for her walk on 6th October. “I would also like to thank everyone who has donated to my tin and am proud to be supporting Light the Night by wearing their wristbands” said Gaynor.

So, what is Light The Night?
Today another 35 people will be told they have blood cancer. Light the Night aims to raise funds and awareness for these people..
Now in its tenth year, this inspiring twilight event is a unique fundraising event bringing Australia’s blood cancer community together in more than 140 locations to remember and reflect during a moving ceremony and short lantern walk.
Last year, more than 35,000 people from every Australian state and territory attended a Light the Night, together raising a life-saving $2 million!
Those attending raise money beforehand to help give local families facing blood cancer the emotional and practical support that will light the way forward.
Light the Night fundraisers all receive a coloured lantern to carry as darkness falls and celebrate what they’ve achieved to help people with blood cancer.
Major events in most capital cities will all take place on Friday 6 October, with more than 100 other community events taking place right across the country between September and November.
Why do we Light the Night?
Every day another 35 Australians are told they have blood cancer, immediately plunging them and their families into a world of gruelling medical treatments, fear and uncertainty.
They may not realise it but, in this darkest moment, they’re not alone.
Every one of us who raises money and carries a lantern at a Leukaemia Foundation Light the Night event will help light the way for them.
Although research is improving survival, sadly someone loses their life to blood cancer every two hours.
By raising money at Light the Night, you will help provide life-changing practical and emotional support in local communities right across the country – from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
Thanks to its supporters, the Leukaemia Foundation can offer free transport to medical appointments, counselling, information, education and practical support to people when they need it most.
The Leukaemia Foundation also helps hundreds of families from regional Australia each year by providing free accommodation in capital cities so they can access life-saving treatment at major hospitals.
That is why we light the night.
