Altaira are hosting a PJ Party, in support of Dementia Australia

The Altaira Allocations and Administration team have found the perfect excuse to hang out in their pyjama’s for at work!  We are hosting a team pyjama party to raise funds for those affected by dementia. The funds raised will be donated to Dementia Australia with the aim of funding medical and social research, as well as supporting the crucial services, support groups and education programs that Dementia Australia provides to those living with dementia, as well as their families and carers.

Dementia is a condition in which deterioration of cognitive function occurs. It can affect memory, thinking, orientation, comprehension, learning capacity, language and judgement which can also lead to changes in mood, emotion and behaviour. Dementia is more common as people age and is currently the second leading cause of death in Australia. The consequences of dementia not only affect the person living with it, it also has physical, emotional, social and economic effects for those around them such as family and/or carers.

Altaira feel strongly about giving back to their community by supporting the community initiatives and treating our staff.

“We have a strong involvement within the aged care sector and are always looking for fun initiatives that we can take part in as a team. The Dementia Australia PJ party appeared as a great way to raise funds whilst also being a great evening for team to enjoy together. The challenge here is going to be all agreeing on a movie to watch at the PJ Party!” shares Jelena Giro, Altaira Director.

Dementia Australia was found more than 35 years ago by carers, and now supports approximately half a million Australians living with dementia, as well as 1.6 million people who are involved in their care. They are a foundation that ensure they are representative of the diverse range of dementia experiences throughout Australia. Dementia Australia is also a great source of information, education and support for those impacted by dementia.
