February 22, 2021Altaira now offer Physiotherapy services in the aged care and community sector.
Altaira recently welcomed Michael to the team as our official Allied Health and Wellness Operations Manager. To help you get to know Michael, we asked him a few questions:
Tell us more about the new service Altaira are offering?
Altaira’s initial focus will be on offering Physiotherapy services in the aged care and community sector, as well as development and implementation of Pre-Employment Functional Assessments. However, the sky is the limit and we wish to continue expand into further streams of Allied Health as the company grows. This may include, but is not limited to, ergonomic assessments, manual handling training, NDIS, Musculoskeletal care and Occupational Health services.
What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?
I endeavour to help Altaira grow into a market leader in the Allied Health sector with a focus on holistic client-centred care and meaningful rehabilitation outcomes. The long term vision is to provide services with the highest quality care across many different streams of Allied Health, with rehabilitation based on best research evidence. I also want to empower Altaira staff to be highly proficient across different fields of Physiotherapy, to assist them become more well-rounded health professionals and in turn, be able to provide a higher quality service to our clients.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about assisting clients to maintain their independence and empowering them to be able to self-manage their injury and/or health concerns in a holistic and client-centred manner which is relevant and meaningful for them. By allowing people to be in charge of their health outcomes, we achieve much greater adherence to treatment plans resulting in better long term outcomes for our clients.
What did you do before joining the Altaira team?
My career to date has mainly been in Occupational Health Physiotherapy, although I have also done some work in Aged Care, Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, and Community Care. Prior to my career as a Physiotherapist, I had worked as a Disability Care Worker in community settings. I believe this gave me a good grounding in holistic client-centred care, empowering people to maintain their independence and building trust/rapport with clients.
