Siobhan recently shared her insights with us – learn more about how Altaira has helped her further develop her career with this inspiring Q&A!
What part has Altaira played in your nursing career?
I started my journey with Altaira in 2018, where I then left because I moved away. Upon my return to Adelaide in 2022, I joined Altaira again. In 2018, I’d recently completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, where Altaira took me on board as a graduate nurse. I was given a lot of buddy shifts and support throughout my starting career. After a week or so I then started going independently site to site and working across Adelaide.
Why did you join Altaira?
I found that with Altaira throughout my new grad year and when I had finished working, Altaira was super supportive, there was always someone there I could contact and just found that they were really flexible, so, I wanted to get back into an environment where I felt comfortable and supported. I worked across Adelaide, all regions just in casual shifts. When Altaira reached out to me and offered me the position of clinical nurse consultant, I chose Altaira over other agencies, because I know the support will be there for you.
Why should others choose Altaira?
I know that Altaira are flexible and understanding. I like the fact that they offer permanent roles within the age care agency. I like the variety that they offer. You can still travel across Adelaide if you want to, and you can work. Altaira really focuses on our employees. We try to make sure that they work with us, not just for us. We’re really flexible on their needs, their work life balance, and we try to cater to our employees. We strive to place employees close to home if that’s something that they wish. There are lots of shifts available, different and time ranges, so the perfect positions catered for everyone’s needs do exist. Furthermore, Altaira work alongside our clients to ensure that best patient care is delivered.
What is your favourite aspect of working with Altaira?
My favourite thing about working with Altaira is the people that I work alongside, working clients and getting to know people in the communities.
What are your goals?
My career goal at Altaira currently is to further develop my management skills. It is also to maintain a work/life balance so I can enjoy spending time with my partner, family and friends.
